Trouble Maker: A MacKenzie Family Novel by Liliana Hart

Marnie Whitlock has never known what it’s like to be normal. Her ability to see the future and people’s innermost thoughts makes her an outcast—feared—loathed. Even by her own parents. And her father is determined to beat the curse out of her. Her only chance for survival is to escape Surrender.

Beckett Hamilton has loved Marnie since they were kids, but one horrible night destroyed any future he’d hoped for. Now Marnie was back in Surrender, and picking up where they left off is the only thing on his mind. He finds out quickly that some hearts take longer to heal, and not everyone that’s broken can be fixed. But loving Marnie isn’t an option—it’s his destiny.

My Review

Trouble Maker (The MacKenzie Family #11.5)Trouble Maker by Liliana Hart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Trouble Maker is a story about survival in many ways. Marnie Whitlock has been a survivor her entire life. She survived an extremely violent upbringing as a child, being taken from her home and the people she knew, then later a controlling boyfriend. She is back in her home town now to make a fresh start and to find happiness within herself.

Beckett has had a thing for Marnie for years, but his life is ranching and being the owner of his families ranch now he is tied to the land.

Beckett and Marnie had me rooting for them from the beginning of this story. They have some twists and turns and a couple of detours have to be taken but Liliana takes us on a ride through their story that will leave you wanting more and at the same time give you that happy satisfying HEA feeling that comes from a great romance.

Meet Liliana Hart

Liliana Hart is a New York Times, USA Today, and Publisher's Weekly Bestselling Author of more than 40 titles. After starting her first novel her freshman year of college, she immediately became addicted to writing and knew she'd found what she was meant to do with her life. She has no idea why she majored in music.

Since self-publishing in June of 2011, Liliana has sold more than 3 million ebooks and been translated into eight languages. She's appeared at #1 on lists all over the world and all three of her series have appeared on the New York Times list. Liliana is a sought after speaker and she's given keynote speeches and self-publishing workshops to standing-room-only crowds from California to New York to London.

Liliana can almost always be found at her computer writing or on the road giving workshops for SilverHart International, a company she founded with her partner, Scott Silverii, where they provide law enforcement, military, and fire resources for writers so they can write it right. Liliana is a recent transplant to Southern Louisiana, where she's getting used to the humidity and hurricane season, and plotting murders (for her books, of course).

25 THINGS ABOUT ME!

1.) I have a Coke first thing every morning instead of coffee.

2.) I try to read at least one book a day (when I'm not on deadline), sometimes two or three if I have the itch. Reading is one of my greatest pleasures.

3.) I decided to be a writer my freshman year of college. Which, of course, is why I majored in music and art history.

4.) I started writing my first book when I was eighteen. It was about a 30-year-old virgin assassin. Yes, you read that right. It's buried in the far corner of my closet.

5.) I didn't complete my first book until I was twenty-five, but 40 titles since then. I'm 35.

6.) I love being a writer. It gives me an excuse to think about different ways to kill people and to take weird vacations for the tax deductions.

7.) I could eat macaroni and cheese every day. I love it! But my hips do not.

8.) I'm very slow to make new friends. I'm a pretty solitary person, so when you see me at booksignings and conventions, I'm completely out of my comfort zone, which is why it's so nice when I have readers come up and talk to me like they already know me. It puts me at ease.

9.) My favorite cities to visit are: New Orleans--Galway, Ireland--Sonoma--Knoxville

10.) I like Milk Duds more than I probably should. I'm sure one day it'll catch up to me.

11.) I love to travel. I'm perfectly content to wake up on a random morning and say, I'm going here today." And then I'll buy a plane ticket and pack a suitcase. There are still so many places I'd love to see.

12.) I spent a summer in Ireland when I was in college with a random family I'd never met or spoken to before. It was one of the bravest and most adventurous things I've done. A great experience.

13.) I hated high school. If I could go back and do it over I'd try to graduate early and get the heck out of there.

14.) I have a weakness for fast cars.

15.) I performed at Carnegie Hall when I was in college and toured Europe with a percussion ensemble one summer.

16.) I spent four years in college majoring in Percussion. It is now completely useless since I'm writing books full time, but it does give me an advantage when playing Rock Band.

17.) I like gaming. When I take vacations between books, a good part of the time goes to playing RPGs.

18.) The cleanest place I've ever been is Switzerland.

19.) I don't gamble. When I go to Vegas I spend my time at concerts and shows.

20.) Purple is my favorite color. Go Frogs! (TCU alum)

21.) I love a good mystery.

22.) I've had impacted wisdom teeth for years, but I have no desire to get them taken out.

23.) My husband and I are terrible skiers. We know this from experience.

24.) I like to sit down in the shower. I'll often stick my Kindle in a plastic bag and read in there for an hour.

25.) I spend a lot of time thinking of ways to kill people, and I have a tendency to zone out in the middle of a conversation if it's a really good idea.
